Extension of time to file

IRS doesn’t give an extension for reporting form 2290 for your trucks, unlike the 1040s. If you need an extension under exceptional circumstances, you should directly write a requisition to the IRS to extend your time to file the tax form 2290.

The official address of the IRS is,
Department of the Treasury
Internal Revenue Service
7940 Kentucky Drive
Florence, KY 41042-2915

Inside your letter, you should clearly mention the cause of the delay for paying the form 2290 tax. However, the IRS will not grant the extension for more than six months except for the taxpayers who live abroad. An extension for filing form 2290 doesn’t extend the time to pay for the same tax. You have to request separately if you want an extension of time to pay.
